Here are the top 5 stops on the Road to Hana, with lots of awesome drone footage by Lance O’Brien. First suggestion: We think renting a convertible is better than renting a Jeep.

We totally agree with Lance that doing the Road to Hana properly takes two to three days, especially when you add in the stops he skipped like Paia Town, Twin Falls, Ke’anae Peninsula and the Lava Tubes.

We suggest that on day two or three you continue the rest of the way around Haleakala for some of the most breathtaking scenery on Maui.

Nu'u Reserve Kaupo Maui
Nu’u Reserve, past Kaupo when you drive around Haleakala.

Manawainui Gulch, south of Ulupalakua, East Maui. The cliffs are 200 ft. high, and you can see the remains of an old Hawaiian village at the bottom of the gulch.
